Contra Spem Spero is a horror adventure from indie developer DADZINGO, in which you find yourself in a nightmarish forest after your car stalls on a deserted road. Armed with only a journal and a camera, you'll navigate 42 main and 13 hidden locations using an interactive map to discover why this place exists and what happened to its inhabitants. The game combines text-based exploration with a visual novel, in which creatures that were once human communicate through the photos you take. You'll have to manage a dual health system while solving various puzzles and making choices that branch the narrative into multiple endings.

Each encounter with lost people, desperate creatures, or indescribable entities reveals a backstory that influences your future path, forcing you to decide who deserves your trust in a place where trust may be impossible. The game features dark, stylized photographs documenting your journey through locations and monsters. The game's Latin title translates as Against All Hope, I Hope, perfectly capturing the atmosphere of despair.
