Roots Devour is a dark strategy adventure in which you control a newborn Lovecraftian deity summoned into the world by a forbidden ritual. The primary objective is to conquer a mystical forest by spreading its root system. Survival hinges on absorbing the life essence from sacrificed creatures, allowing you to build a cohesive network for a constant flow of resources. The gradual establishment of control over the territory takes place in an oppressive Gothic atmosphere.

The journey, consisting of five chapters, takes you through gloomy forests, treacherous swamps, and snow capped mountains, ultimately leading to human settlements. Uncovering the secrets of this world is accomplished through the study of fragmented fragments of knowledge. The core of the gameplay is an atypical card system that emphasizes spatial planning. Instead of traditional card play, in Roots Devour you build an interconnected network of cards, spending limited resources to create connections. With 14 unique decks and hundreds of cards, there's scope for creating diverse synergies and playstyles. To achieve dominance and survival in this world, you must:

• constantly sustain yourself by absorbing other creatures.
• create a vast network of cards to continuously gather resources.
• interact with mysterious characters, influencing their destinies.
• use sinister talents and mutations to overcome obstacles.
