Nightsoil is a narrative adventure story about an old farmer's last night shift in cholera-ravaged London in 1854. Instead of heroism, there's toil instead of bright light, there are foggy lanterns and narrow courtyards reeking of disease. Joined by your faithful horse, Old Boy, you slowly ride through the sleeping city, performing a job without which it would have long ago drowned in its own waste. The night passes among filthy alleys, overflowing latrines, and slippery manhole covers leading to sewers. The cart creaks under the weight of the load, the horse tires, and every movement demands attention. The work is monotonous, but it is in this routine that the details of the hero's life and his silent relationship to the world around him are revealed. Gradually, the burden of the shift becomes more than just physical. Empty houses, sparse lights in the windows, and the chill air create a sense of closure as if not just a workday, but an entire chapter in life is ending. The connection with the old horse is felt in every paused step, in every careful turn of the cart.
