Who Summoned It? is a humorous detective adventure whose plot revolves around a massive disaster in the fairytale kingdom of Knotgood. A disrupted wedding festival led to the death of the monarch beneath the ruins of the citadel and the emergence of a ghostly monster named Buglo. To save the land, rulers of various elements, including the Mountain King and the Cloud Queen, recruit experienced investigator Ricky Roktow. The player assumes the role of the sentient Scroll of Truth, physically incapable of recording false information.

Investigation spans 40 detailed zones, requiring close examination to uncover hidden clues. In Who Summoned It?, solving the crime is based on comparing the testimonies of 20 unique suspects and filling in the gaps in the story using logical deduction. The process of collecting evidence and exposing criminals is significantly simplified by the use of magical equipment:

• A cracked crystal ball allows one to see fragments of the distant past.
• Trained rats help explore confined spaces and narrow passages.
• An enchanted cat allows one to distinguish the color spectrum of various magical scents.
• Dossier building—accumulating detailed information about the secret intentions of residents.
