Luminary is an action RPG with open world elements, developed and published by Refractive Entertainment. It is built as an ARPG lite that plays well solo or with friends, and the whole world is open to exploration from the start.

Combat stays forgiving while the game still asks for real timing. The player switches between weapon types on the fly: sword and shield for defense, a bow for ranged work, and a magic glove for spells. Blocking and dodging matter, and the fights keep a light arcade feel.

The map covers a hand crafted area of about one square kilometer in its first half. Mountains can be climbed, deep water can be crossed, and gliding opens shortcuts between regions. Hidden treasure waits in the corners, and the locomotion system makes travel part of the fun.

Co-op works without friction. Drop in and drop out multiplayer supports up to three players online, and the same character keeps its progress between sessions. A two player local mode is planned for later. Progression carries over between your own world and the worlds of friends.

The character creator offers six races plus options for hair, beards and makeup. Enemy camps can be destroyed, large towers get liberated, and bosses guard the bigger challenges. Difficulty levels allow replays with a stronger goal.

This is an Early Access title built by a two person studio, so content grows over time. The release on this page is Build 24644397 from August 12, 2026, about 9.29 GB in size. Languages include English, Russian, German and Japanese. For players who want a lighter action RPG with co-op, Luminary shows a solid start.

The sound design keeps the wilderness alive, and the lighting rewards players who push into dark corners. The UI stays light, so the screen never feels crowded. Friends can join a session at any moment, and leaving changes nothing for the host. The project is early in its life, so feedback from the community will shape the next updates. Still, the first half of the map already offers enough content for a long first run.
