Overview

Lightmatter takes place in an alternate reality in which Lightmatter Technologies has been able to develop photon technology as an extremely efficient and renewable energy source. During the game, we play the hero invited to his first presentation. It turns out that the shadows in which the headquarters of the company bathes are deadly and absorb all the organic matter. Our protégé is sentenced to fight for survival and to listen to the comments of Virgil, the head of Lightmatter Technologies, who oversees him.

In Lightmatter, first-person action (FPP) is shown. As is the case with the Portal series, we solve increasingly complex logical and environmental puzzles. Brain teasers can be used to illuminate a specific part of a location or to move a photon beam from A to B (for example, to activate a selected device). It should be remembered that contact with an underexposed surface should be avoided, as this will lead to immediate death; however, shadows can be jumped over. The developers decided to use the cel shading technique and limited colors, due to which all this can be connected with Frank Miller’s comics. Separately, it is worth mentioning that Virgil was given the voice of David Bateson, known for his role as Agent 47 in the Hitman series.
