Otherskin is an action-adventure game where you play as Alex, the 13th volunteer Space Crusader, on a suicide mission to the planet Vandermere, where a universe-threatening force called the Corruption is believed to have originated. As part of the Exodus mission, Alex is equipped with an advanced AI suit designed to maximize survival time and gather vital intel on the deadly phenomenon that has wiped out the planet’s native Magna species.

The core mechanic of the game involves absorbing alien «morphs» from defeated enemies, which grant new abilities and capabilities that can dramatically change your gaming experience. Your AI suit can be upgraded to improve the effectiveness of its weapons, life support systems, and combat maneuverability, and an AI companion will accompany you throughout your journey.

Combat combines ranged weapons and fast melee attacks, allowing for a seamless transition between combat styles. The alien world of Vandermire features a variety of biomes, each hiding secrets about the origins of the Corruption. With permadeath mechanics and a «last mission» concept, every encounter matters as you race against time to uncover the truth before the planet’s hostile environment claims another crusader.
