Earth vs Mars, from the experimental division Relic Labs, delivers a fresh take on turn based strategy inspired by classics like Advance Wars and Impossible Creatures. The premise is a wonderfully bizarre sci fi romp: Martians have arrived in full force to claim Earth, utilizing advanced weaponry like grav tanks and high tech saucers. Humanity’s only chance lies with the secret weapon, the Splice O Tron.

This key mechanic allows players to combine human "volunteers" with animal DNA to create a custom roster of hybrid supersoldiers. You can field units like the fast moving cheetah fly that rains acid from the sky or the heavily armored human rhino for devastating charges. The game features an expansive, narrative focused campaign spanning over thirty hand crafted missions, each one requiring careful tactical deployment on its grid based battlefields. As your army evolves through new creatures and Commander abilities, the Martian threat scales, eventually unleashing terrifying foes such as the sentient organic weapon known as The Creep.
