Tearscape is a 2D adventure set in a gothic setting, where the protagonist's survival depends directly on mastery of weapons and well-timed dodges. A well-tuned combat system, demanding precise reactions, underpins all mechanics. Managing your stamina bar is crucial in encounters with grotesque creatures of darkness, and a strictly limited supply of healing elixirs forces you to approach each encounter thoughtfully. Strengthening your character's stats and finding new equipment in dungeons allows you to more effectively confront enemies. Battles with colossal bosses, the result of dark experiments, will require maximum concentration and strategic thinking.

Exploration takes place on a vast, interconnected map with numerous branches and secret passages. The nonlinear structure of the locations encourages curiosity, rewarding the discovery of secrets with valuable items and new abilities. Tearscape visuals feature a pixel art style reminiscent of classic handheld consoles. The narrative is enriched by encounters with non-player characters, each pursuing their own goals and adding depth to the story.

To succeed, the hunter must:
