The Remake of the End of the Greatest RPG of All Time is an unusual detective puzzle game built around a fictional JRPG from the 90s that supposedly once existed but was lost. The player finds themselves inside the final hour of this legendary game and tries to figure out what actually happened around it. To do this, the player must study the manual, watch fragments of a mockumentary, listen to the developers' commentary, and literally piece together the game piece by piece.

The game constantly pretends that the player is playing a genuine, forgotten project from the era of old JRPGs. The manual looks like a scan from a 90s box set, the director's commentary sounds like archival footage, and the video footage gradually begins to reveal things that clearly shouldn't be in a typical RPG. The mechanics are also built around investigation. You need to not just complete battles and search for secrets, but understand the entire structure of this strange "lost project." Some enemies require you to find specific weaknesses, while other puzzles are tied to found materials and hidden information within the game itself. This makes the experience feel less like a typical RPG and more like an attempt to unearth the lost history surrounding it.
