Madmen share one dream. A light waits beneath a silent Tower, and the road to it is paved with rumors. The Lantern of the Laughless Saint, an open world RPG from NerveLabs, sends you to a remote island to follow that dream.

Nobody remembers the journey to the island. You wake on the shore with no map and no quest markers. The land teaches you through walking, through scraps of burned history, and through the lost souls who wandered here before you. Every one of them chased the same feverish light, and every one of them has a theory about what sits at the bottom of the well.

Somewhere in the depths stands a theater with an empty stage. It waits for an audience. As you repair or ruin the lives of the islanders, the phantoms they leave behind walk into the theater and take their seats. The fuller the hall becomes, the louder the island listens, and the greater the applause at your final act. The applause is not a script. It is a record of everything you did.

Most quests have multiple resolutions. Mercy, violence, compromise and deceit are all tools, and the island reacts to each one. The cast of characters is strange and large: a giant toad learning to read, an ancient skeleton who only wants to swim, a musician from a far country hunting for something precious. Each of them remembers what you do.

You do not have to descend alone. The entire game supports co op play. Explore the island together, dive into the depths for treasures, and make the choices that decide the fate of everyone on the island.

The Lantern of the Laughless Saint is a slow burning open world RPG for players who want their fantasy worlds to answer back when they act. Its stories branch wide, and its strangest characters stay in memory long after the Tower is reached.
