There is no military aspect to distract you from the economy, and the game is more relaxed than your typical space strategy. The whole point is to explore the pristine space, shape it to your liking and develop it to the fullest. There is no need to war with so many empty universes. Forget about disgusting micromanagement and spend time waiting for shipbuilding. At Slipways, every action you take has immediate consequences, and every choice you make is paramount. Your planets are in control, and you are focused on making the right decisions to get what they need. You will not spend your precious time on hard work one run takes 40-60 minutes, and they are all filled with good material. There are no boring technologies in stocks. Instead of making the building 20% more efficient, the technology you invented will allow you to move the planets at will, use the stars for energy.

The choice depends on each run, so you have to carefully plan and adapt to the current situation each path through the tree of technology leads to a unique experience that profoundly changes your view of the planets and resources of the game. When one run takes no more than an hour, you need the ability to go through again. Almost everything in Slipways is generated procedurally, and each sector of the galaxy offers completely different tasks, from supernovae that threaten your planets, to space gaps that you need to overcome. To overcome these problems, you enlist the help of different races inhabiting the empire, each with its own philosophical worldview, different abilities and a dedicated piece of the technology tree. There are more than 80 technologies to choose from, and you’ll only use about 10 of them for each launch.
