Robert on Earth tells the story of a small robot awakening in a future completely taken over by machines. The player will have to manage an underground farm, cultivating unusual plants that provide vital energy for all operations. The character extracts resources in deep mines, catches mutated creatures in underground reservoirs and equips his shelter with the treasures he finds. Such gameplay leads to interactions with other mechanical inhabitants and the gradual disclosure of the secrets of the world.

In this mechanical world of Robert on Earth, the harvest is represented by gears, boards and light bulbs, which have unique growth cycles. Through research and cultivation, the gamer discovers their mutated forms to obtain unexpected results. Resources from the farm are synthesized into various useful items that increase efficiency. Ore from the mines and mutants caught in the water serve as the main materials for pumping the protagonist in the game, opening permanent abilities such as Remote Control and Instant Teleportation.

This simulator sends the protagonist beyond the farm into a vast underground world to explore locations from desert towns to the Eternal City. He meets various mechanical creatures: some become loyal allies, while others block the way. Tasks include passing through dangerous dungeons and searching for oases in deserts tormented by sandstorms. Such expeditions gradually help to uncover the main mysteries of the wasteland: the cause of the death of the Earth and the secrets of the protagonist's past.
