The hero of this escape story is a puddle with ambition. Crude Oil is an open world puzzle adventure from Elfsend, which develops and publishes the game, and it casts you as a blob of oil trying to escape the oil industry. Few protagonists have this little surface area. The premise alone does half the talking; the physics does the rest.

Movement is the comedy and the craft. You splat off walls, bowl through stacks of barrels, and skate across puddles as an elastic blob, pulling off platforming moves that feel familiar until your lack of a shape rewrites them. Every surface is a suggestion. Mario by way of viscosity. When a maneuver needs extra thought, you can slow time, either to land it or just to savor the acrobatics.

Size is a resource. You collect and launch oil droplets to grow into a formidable glob, or shrink down to a modest slick when the situation calls for modesty. Growth changes the puzzle, and so does shrinking. Hats enter the picture as short term power ups, each one changing what the next stretch of the world allows. Build the blob the moment needs.

The escape plan has tools. You drive a forklift to lift and stack heavy obstacles, rearranging the industry's own property against it, and you mix it up with rude robots who clearly object to your departure. The robots have opinions about workplace conduct. The world treats you like inventory, and the game is about proving it wrong.

The tone carries the whole trip. Nothing here takes itself seriously, and the physics sandbox keeps finding new ways to make freedom look ridiculous. It is a breakout in every sense of the word. Crude Oil is an adventure for players who like their puzzles bouncy, their heroes formless, and their getaway vehicles industrial.
