Deadzone Rogue takes players aboard the deep-space vessel ISS-X, where the protagonist awakens with no memories. Faced with advancing legions of hostile machines, the player is forced to engage in first-person combat in sections of the ship, from engine rooms to the brig. Survival depends on navigating these locations and facing off against numerous mechanical opponents.

The core of the gameplay involves repetitive cycles on a captured spaceship. In Deadzone: Rogue, players must navigate a cycle of combat, death, respawn, and retry, which is typical of the rogue-lite structure. Each run provides opportunities to obtain gear and encounter swarms of hunter drones, spiderbots, mindless entities, and dozens of other types of machines. Confronting large biomechanical bosses requires special combat skills and reaction speed to succeed.

Progression means gradually getting stronger after each failure, preparing for the next encounters inside the hostile vessel. The title’s combat system gives control over an arsenal of over 30 basic weapons, each of which can be modified with elemental effects and various upgrades. For example, a shotgun can be modified to control crowds with void energy, or a submachine gun can be upgraded to clear rooms with ice projectiles. Available weapons, including plasma cannons and sniper rifles, allow you to adapt to different combat situations.
