Little Rocket Lab tells the story of aspiring engineer Morgan, who returns to her home to fulfill her family's dream: building a rocket. She discovers that the town of Saint Ambroise has changed dramatically, and her expertise is now needed to help the locals and revive the region. Through research and the creation of ingenious devices and factories, Morgan dedicates her efforts to solving the community's problems. Her engineering talents become key to bringing industry back to the town.

The central mechanic of Little Rocket Lab is converting local resources into useful materials through automation. Gameplay encourages players to build vast industrial complexes using drills, furnaces, assemblers, and extensive conveyor networks. These factories solve the townspeople's problems through the use of electrical components, water supply systems, and cranes.

To obtain the necessary components, players must explore coastlines, railway junctions, quarries, and underground zones, as each location contains unique materials for inventions. Beyond the industrial challenges, the game's plot focuses on interactions with the residents of Saint-Ambroise. Players will meet local characters, make friends, and become an integral part of the community. The process of reviving the town through engineering solutions and social connections gradually brings Morgan closer to her personal goal. All this effort culminates in the final assembly of the mother rocket her family's ultimate project.
