S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chornobyl - Enhanced Edition takes the gamer to the Exclusion Zone around the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, where anomalies, armed groups and mutants operate outside the law. Movement around this territory depends on food supplies, radiation levels, ammo and relationships with other characters. Story missions can be completed in different ways, using exploration, shootouts and dialogues. The environment is constantly dangerous, which requires attention to detail, rather than following ready-made routes.

In STALKER: Shadow of Chornobyl - Enhanced Edition, everything is built around choice. The decisions made affect the behavior of neutral, hostile and friendly characters. The story develops non-linearly, and the ending depends on the style of passage. Even familiar missions can lead to unexpected consequences. Information often has to be collected independently — through conversations or observation. The game builds a world where there are almost no direct clues, and the atmosphere is based on the internal logic of what is happening.

The expanded edition changes the perception of the environment. A new lighting system, redesigned water and sky supply, as well as updated weapon and character models make the gameplay more intense. The visibility of objects has been improved, gamepad support has been added, which affects the pace of the game. The project has remained true to its core: the user faces risks and makes decisions in conditions where every action can turn out unpredictably. This shooter builds its narrative not on scenery, but on interaction with a world in which there are no minor details.
