S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky Enhanced Edition puts the gamer in the role of a mercenary named Scar, forced to survive among warring factions, unstable anomalies and deadly emissions. The action takes place before the events of the previous title in the series, demonstrating the origins of the territorial split in the Zone. The basis of the mechanics is the Faction Wars system with its help, the user can change the balance of power between armed formations. Each clash affects control over key points and the alignment of parties in the exclusion zone.

In STALKER: Clear Sky Enhanced Edition, much is tied to decisions that determine not only the outcome of missions, but also the attitude of the factions towards the main character. Combat scenes develop unpredictably: ambushes can be expected at any moment, and aggressive emissions turn the landscape into a deadly trap. Scar’s unique resistance to such phenomena attracts the attention of stalkers, scientists and the military.

These situations are not tied to the scenario — they are a consequence of constant conflict and AI activity. The improved edition of the title introduces a number of improvements without changing the basic concept. An updated weapon model and a review adjustment enhance interaction with the environment. The behavior of water, changing sky and weather effects form a lively reaction to what is happening. All changes are aimed at enhancing gameplay immersion.
