Each group of 1 to 4 players focuses on managing their own restaurant while actively disrupting their opponents. Players must balance serving customers to earn money with directly sabotaging the other team's operations. Success depends on keeping customers happy by serving food in a timely manner amidst general chaos.

In Kitchen Wars, the environment encourages direct combat between teams using available items. Weapons can be used and objects found in the game space can be thrown to disrupt the workflow of opponents. Notable mechanics include physically removing chairs from competitors' establishments, which directly reduces their capacity for customers. In addition, resources are accumulated, allowing you to unlock power-ups that increase your abilities during matches.

The proceeds from completed orders serve as the main means of progression within the session. Teams invest their earnings into upgrades for their own kitchen, increasing its efficiency or unlocking new gadgets. Strategically purchasing items and upgrading your business is important to gaining an edge. These upgrades help both improve service and conduct more effective sabotage actions against the other restaurant, which ultimately affects the outcome of the match.
