SUPERVERSE is a top-down shooter with a dark atmosphere and mechanics. It's based on the simple truth of "kill or be killed." When it comes to gameplay, you get something more than simple arcade shooting. Weapons can be upgraded with special packs; equip the same weapon, and it will be upgraded with an additional projectile. You can fire heat-seeking missiles, which is useful for fighting stronger enemies. Movement in this game has a certain momentum. When you start moving forward, inertia propels you forward. The controls are very responsive, but they take a little getting used to. There are several different types of enemies to fight: enemies that fly above you to avoid your attacks, large enemies that fire an endless barrage of lasers at you.

SUPERVERSE is a challenging game. It emulates old-school games that rely on health upgrades. Without health regeneration, the game is made more challenging by the lack of typical mid-level checkpoints. Enemies aren't particularly difficult to kill, but they must be dealt with in groups, and with very little health pickup, this can make things challenging. The game has a wonderful atmosphere thanks to its aesthetic: generally dark, but bright enough to see what's happening around you. Everything in the environment is in deep shadow, giving SUPERVERSE a truly eerie feel. Everything from lens flares to explosions makes the game a true joy when a firefight breaks out.
