A VR headset usually opens a door to another world. JOI Lab VR uses it to bring someone closer instead. This adult simulation from Caulino, published by Multisekai, builds the whole experience around one interactive encounter. The distance between you becomes the premise.

The setup plays with distance. Your friend Kiyomi controls the avatar Kimi from the other side of the connection. Kimi knows perfectly well that you are both inside an online game, even though you are physically far apart, and she leans into that fact. Fourth wall breaks arrive constantly, so the conversation feels directed at you personally rather than rehearsed for a camera. Her reactions change with what you do, which keeps every session distinct.

The way you answer stays refreshingly physical. Nodding your head means yes, shaking it means no, and the session flows through those simple gestures. The controls were designed around Meta Quest controllers first, with compatibility for other hardware as well. Hand tracking works in the OpenXR version through Meta Quest Link. The control scheme is mirrored too, which allows one handed play and keeps the other hand free. Comfort stays part of the design.

Everything takes place inside the laboratory that gives the game its name. The setting keeps the focus tight, with little to distract from the interaction at the center of it. The experience was designed for Meta Quest devices and remains partially compatible with other VR hardware, so players with different headsets can still step inside.

The scope stays deliberately compact. Short sessions, direct interaction, no systems to grind through. Caulino aims at players who own VR hardware and want company in the headset, and the pacing respects that. The laboratory has one purpose, and it delivers on it without padding. Kimi is waiting, after all, and she dislikes being kept waiting.
