FRONT MISSION 3 Remake is a tactical RPG set in the year 2112. This future world is engulfed in geopolitical tension, where corporations and entire nations vie for influence using massive war machines called Wanzer. The story begins with Kazuki Takemura and his friend Ryogo, making a routine delivery, becoming embroiled in a massive armed conflict. A key decision early on determines the course of events, forcing the protagonist to side with either his sister, Alice, or operative Emma Chlumsky. Both storylines focus on investigating the secret weapons project M.I.D.A.S. and uncovering a global conspiracy, touching on themes of loyalty and the ethics of technological progress.

Battles in FRONT MISSION 3 Remake take place turn-based on tactical maps divided into tiles. Commanding a squad of mechs requires a strategic approach, with every action costing points, and victory often dependent on disabling enemy mechs to immobilize or disarm them. Mission objectives range from completely destroying the enemy to escorting an allied Wanzer or reaching a specific point within a time limit. Mechs contain pilots who can be injured and ejected, and unmanned mechs can be captured for use in future battles.
