FROGGY HATES SNOW is an action roguelike where you play as Froggy, a sweater-clad survivor traversing a deadly frozen wilderness. The core gameplay involves venturing out of your warm home and slogging through interactive snow using a variety of tools from shovels to flamethrowers uncovering treasures and enemies, then bringing back the resources you've uncovered to upgrade your abilities. The snow itself is a tactical element you can carve paths through it, use it for cover, or fight your way through it, but remain in the open for too long and you'll freeze to death. Each procedurally generated map features unique bosses and hazards, and keys are scattered throughout the map, unlocking either escape routes or treasure chests containing powerful upgrades.

A roguelite-style progression system allows you to customize your build, becoming a faster miner, a stronger fighter, or a cold-resistant explorer, and unlock companions like penguins and moles to aid you in your progress. Combat pits you against eerie obsidian creatures with varying behaviors, while high-risk anomaly zones offer rare artifacts for those willing to take on the brutal challenges. Between the whimsical aesthetic of a cloaked frog and the dark fantasy enemies hunting you, the game balances cozy charm with genuine survival tension. For players seeking a more relaxed experience, the Peaceful mode eliminates combat entirely, transforming the experience into a treasure hunt puzzle.
